Classic Chicken Pot Pie

Recipe Yield: 1 10-inch Pie | Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 1 hour and 20 minutes

Equipment Needed:

  • Large pot (#ad)
  • Pan for baking
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Knife and fork
  • Pie dish (if you don't have a pie shell that is already in a tin pie dish)
  • Cutting board or surface

Ingredients:

  • 1, 10-inch pre-made frozen pie shell, or 1 package of refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1/2 of a white onion, small diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced (about 1 tbsp of pre-minced garlic)
  • 1/2 a bag of Frozen Peas and Carrots
  • 1-2 chicken breasts
  • 2/3 of whole milk (or milk of your choice)
  • 1 3/4 fluid cup of chicken broth
  • 1/3 cup of flour
  • 1/3 cup of butter
  • Salt and Pepper, TT (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. In a baking pan covered in aluminum foil, season your chicken breasts as you would like. If you're not sure how to Properly use your seasonings, here's a guide.
  3. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
  4. Let the chicken breasts cool for 5 minutes, and then use a knife and fork to pull the chicken apart into thin strips or thin chunks. Set aside.
  5. n a large pot, melt the butter over medium-high heat, careful not to let the butter brown. Using a whisk, stir in the onion and the garlic and let it cook for 1 minute, constantly stirring. Stir in the flour and mix until the mixture becomes clumpy.
  6. Stir in the chicken broth and milk, using the whisk to break up the clumps of flour and butter mixture. Stir for about 5 minutes.
  7. Add in the frozen peas and carrots and stir. Cook for about 5 more minutes, stirring to make sure the mixture doesn't cook to the pot.
  8. Add in the pulled chicken, and let the mixture cook for another 5 minutes.
  9. Add the mixture to the pie crust. (I suggest using a package of pie crusts so you can cover the pie.)
  10. Place this pie on another baking dish or flat pan just in case there is any overflow during cooking.
  11. Bake for 35 minutes on 425 degrees F.
  12. Let the pie cool for 5-7 minutes before serving.
  13. Plate up and enjoy!
